Jordan came two weeks and a day early. I'm so glad he did. I started having contractions at midnight on Friday. We decided it was real labor when the contractions continued, by 4 a.m. or so they were 10 minutes apart. By 7 a.m. the contractions were about 4 minutes apart so Michael and I decided to head to the hospital. When I got there the nurse said I was only dilated to a 2.5, and 90% effaced. They monitored me for an hour but nothing changed so they gave me a morphine shot and sent me home. If it was real labor, the doctor said, then the contractions would continue, but they would go away if it was false labor, which the nurses thought it probably was. The shot was supposed to last 6 hours, and then I was supposed to reevaluate my situation. The morphine did absolutely nothing; the contractions continued to get closer together. About 3 hours later I couldn't take it anymore so I called the doctor. He was at his Payson office and just told me to come in and get checked. I was in a lot of pain and told him I couldn't make it out to Payson. Back to the hospital we went. I was dilated to a 5.5, and received the epidural. The rest of labor went incredibly smooth on my end. When it came time to push Jordan was on his side, but they couldn't tell his exact orientation so they didn't dare to turn him, so they gave me a "big episiotomy" and vacuumed him out. Everything has gone pretty well since. We left the hospital on Valentines day and are doing well at home. We received a lot of wonderful help and are very happy.
What a handsome little devil! I'm glad it went so well (although it sounds like it was painful for quite a while). Let us know if there's anything we can do :)
